The Great Plains of Nathari

The Hallo'Wai System;
Planet of Nathari,
Outskirts of Alliance Colony 'Moon City'

H-5; The Hallo'Wai System Colony_by_merl1ncz

'It's a beauty, isn't it?'

The youthful farmer, Vacum'Tur, turned to view his father; the elder, thick-horn'd Kal'Bavakorian named Nuru'Tur. The older Kal had a broad smile on his wrinkled face as, from their perch upon the hillside, they viewed the brightly glowing colonial center. 'Moon City' it was named, directly due to the fact one could see the massive planetoid in the sky, known only as the Twin of Nathari, even in broad daylight; sitting idly in the great blue above their new homeworld's many plains.

"It really is; I'm amazed they built it up so quickly... Father, How did they build it so fast?"

The older Kal'Bavakorian would, with a light, guttural chuckle, lower himself off the tree stump he stood upon, and kneel down beside his small son. Both were dressed in the usual colonial clothing; thick, strongly knit green garbs meant to blend in with the world's natural color; acting as a sort of camouflage. The blue hue of a Kal'Bavakorians skin, as well as their luminous eyes, made them easy targets for alien predators.. Something this world had plenty of.

The father would gently grasp his son's shoulder, and guide his attention towards the largest structure in the very, very center of Downtown Moon City; a spire-like construct that remained yet surrounded by the skeletal base of the star ship that had landed there a month ago.

"Well, my son.. You see the spire in the center of the city?"

The boy nods vigorously; ruffling his mandibles in interest,"Yeah, I see it.."

"See, the ship that brought us here.. It landed there, you remember that part. But while we left the city center to start farming the land..."

The father motions to the spire, and then motions to the rest of the city as a whole,"The people who wanted to live in the city took the ship apart, and made it into the city! It sort of.. Prepares us for when more of us start moving here."

The boy nods, as if understanding, but then asks in a puzzled manner; his eyes still settled upon the city in interest,"Why didn't we live in the city?"

The father smiles again and, with his strong, three-digit'd hands, grasps his son under his arms. The small child honks loudly, as if laughing, before he is placed gingerly upon his father's shoulders. Turning away from the city, they now begin to walk towards the opposite side of the hill. The child and father soon stand overlooking a small farming settlement barely half a mile from the true outskirts of Moon City. They are on opposite sides of the river, with the farming settlement appearing more as a disorganized suburban area, filled with farm land, OI farm tenders, light vehicles, and a series of roughly paved roads; all surrounded by some sort of security fence. A bridge can be seen, in the distance, slowly being constructed to allow easier access between the city, and the small farming town.

The father gazes down at the farming town below, smiling still as he holds his son on his shoulders. He could see many young Kal'Bavakorians hard at work on their farmlands, even now at dusk. Corral Root Plants were being cultivated, along with other grains, fruits, and vegetables; many of which would be transported back to Moon City to assist the population in growing, and allow them to begin setting up mines for the valuable mineral and resource deposits found when colonial scouts first visited the world a standard year before. The smells of freshly made foods and of smoldering fires, the sounds of children playing in the fields...

Becoming a full Citizen, because of his contributions to the Alliance state, instead of a simple Civilian. No fears of war, or the damaged remains left behind by the war he, and billions of others, had faced only a decade before. No fears of his son being shipped to an Alliance military center to be recruited, should the military find him a perfect 'genetic specimen'. No fears of harsh competition, or the rigorous trials of Kal'Bavakorian adolescent culture in the Home System for his child... He did not have to fear this here, at least, not yet. For now, he could enjoy his much more simple life without judgement, without complexity, without fear..

To be as far away from home was why he didn't live in the city.

"My child,"The father starts,"...We didn't live in the city because we seek a better, more free life. A life that I had that, for now, you do not have to. You can grow up without conflict.. Without pain, without fear-..."

Suddenly, almost seconds after saying these words, a shrill alarm begins to wail from the center of the farming settlement; bouncing off the far ends of the hillside. Similar alarms could also be heard in the distance; derived from other Alliance settlements. The father, and his son, could see the many farmers and builders below, all whom had been struggling to develop their farms or more building constructs, suddenly rush into their houses; abandoning their work in seconds.

"Vasut'Ukra!" Cursed the father as he began to rush down the hillside, his son bouncing rather vigorously on his shoulders. The boy would bark quietly; almost a whimper it would seem, as they rushed towards the security fence below; the urgency of the situation terrifying him. The father bounded down the hillside in less than half a minute, and promptly slammed this section of the fence's entrance closed as they entered its safety. Mere moments later it activated; a bright surge of high-intensity energy, derived from the settlements Gu'Run plasma generator, would coarse through the fences perimeter. The fence's automated alarm system would begin a special message for those who remain inside the hillside town..

"ATTENTION ALL ALLIANCE CITIZENS. NATHARI PREDATORS HAVE BEEN SPOTTED IN HUNTING PACKS IN YOUR GENERAL AREA. PLEASE REMAIN WITHIN' THE CONFINES OF THE SECURITY FENCE UNTIL ALLIANCE STELLAR MARINES ARE ABLE TO INSPECT YOUR COMPOUND, AND DEEM IT SAFE TO EXIT YOUR HOMES. THIS IS NOT A DRILL."

It wasn't perfect, thought the father as he grasped his son, and began a mad sprint back to his home. No, living a colonists' life was not perfect at all.. But it would get better. Eventually, it would be much, much better. Even if he could hear the high-pitched shrieks and snarls of murderous creatures beyond the fence; spelling doom for any who remained outside it or even, in the worst circumstances, their own homes.

It was better than living on any world in the Un' System.

Inbetween the reasonably tranquil existence of Nathari, a singular, sleek, and box-formed ship of minimal aesthetic enters its tranquil environments; intruding into its atmosphere with ambiguous intentions.

H-5; The Hallo'Wai System 8tXrp

Its curveless nature, its utterly black plating, its geometrical symmetry-- the only distorting factor seemed to be its minimalist engine, emitting a glimpse of white light into the depths of space. It is no larger than two dropships, and carries no sign of visible armament or defense mechanisms. The ship, albeit unrecognized in terms of looks, appears to hold digital registration belonging to the Familiar; it sure carries their otherworldly presence.

Evidently uncaring for its surroundings, calmly and silently heads towards the wild outskirts of Moon City, unattempting to make contact with any official presence.

The Hallo'Wai System;
Planet of Nathari,
Alliance Colony 'Moon City'

H-5; The Hallo'Wai System APC_by_PE_Travers

Their comms burst to life..

++-"Hugarok Squad, listen up. The 'Trovial' picked up an incoming UFO which has determined to come bearing sentient individuals. Doesn't appear to be of any Human spacecraft the Svu'Kavsi have ever picked up, so the Colonial Administration has devolved this operation from Tier-9 to Tier-4.. You'll still be sleeping in your homes tonight, brothers and sisters.

Hurgarok will be protecting the occupants of APC Two as you insert via the river outside of Moon City to the coordinates listed in your HUD, and attempt to make contact with the foreign individuals. The Mel'Va Diplomacy Team within' APC Two will handle all communication with the foreign individuals, and will be working by themselves. You are to support them and not interfere unless hostilities are formed.

The enemy vehicle doesn't appear to be armed, and the 'Trovial' is too busy running patrols around Nathari to provide aid, so we'll have no air support should things go awry. We're not expecting them to, though. Allow the Diplomacy Team to handle the situation, guard their backs.. And we may have a set of new friends to display to the Colonial Administration tonight.

Command Out."-++

Alliance Stellar Marine Sergeant Burn'Ok nearly cursed upon hearing the last bit. Their first attempt at communication with an alien race ended up with the First Grand Fleet being deployed far outside Alliance space.. It would be a blessing from their Imperial Fucking Highness if they didn't have to shoot more sentients up. Nevertheless, these were new aliens; not Mankind. If there was any possibility of these aliens being of human descent, the Colonial Administration would have announced a planetary evacuation order, nuked Moon City, and moved their colonial charter to a new system. That was the threat the Administration deemed the Humans.. Or at least the 'Coalition' sector of Mankind, to be.

Yes, these were definitely a new alien species; Nothing the Svu'Kavsi have ever intercepted before. Better yet, Hugarok Squad and it's diplomatic 'escort' were going to be the first to witness this occasion. This could either be a blessing, or a violent curse.. And it would only take a few minutes to find out.

Sergeant Burn'Ok bounced somewhat as his APC-7A started back up again. The oddly tracked vehicle, and its fellow APC-7A following in the rear, had just passed the Electromagnetic Defense Gate that surrounded the quickly growing metropolis of Moon City, and was quickly setting out towards the opposite side of the river; only a few minutes travel. The two massive moons of Nathari were out tonight, making visibility extremely easy in the almost dawn-like lighting and washed everything in bright white light. Even then, the trip through Moon City from the Stellar Marine Fort 'Nathari' was quick and silent. They had wanted to avoid making citizens fearful, and made sure to deploy only after Moon City's late afternoon curfew was activated; a step put in place to ensure no one was attacked by any Nathari Predators that managed to get through the security fence.

Sergeant Burn'Ok slowly turns towards the other nineteen or so Alliance Stellar Marines settled into the back of the APC-7A. The APC-7A was one of the only tracked vehicles in the Alliance Military, Legion or Marines. The development of a space navy had put new orders of advanced APCs in the background, or forgotten altogether. Still, the vehicle held up well, as it was heavily armored, was defended by an advanced AX-47 automatic rail-cannon and multiple P-98 kinetic turrets, and could carry twenty soldiers with room still for heavy weapons and cargo. It was the workhorse of the old Kal'Bavakorian Alliance military back during the Great War, and continued onwards to serve a galactic Alliance of Kal'Bavakorian Nations.

With a quick wave of his hand to his fellow Marines, the Sergeant barked aloud.

"Alright boys and girls; you have the briefing in your head, the training embedded in your soul, and the armor and weaponry to cover the rest! Put on your helmets, prepare your THAR Kinetic Rifles and, for you lucky bastards, your EC-Plasma Shotguns, and prepare to jump boat!"

The APC-7A's were making their way through the river now; visible by how the APCs would rock from side to side. Regardless, the Stellar Marines grasped their helmets and slammed them over their heads, inspected their HUD and armor systems, and began prepping their weapon systems for their quick escape from the APCs. Alliance Stellar Marines operated with Korun Light Powered Infantry Armor just for these sudden and unexpected missions, and their equipment was ready just as the APCs neared the rivers edge. Sergeant Burn'Ok snapped his own helmet into position, and had grasped his THAR Kinetic Rifle just as the water began to fill the APCs troop bay. The troops made sure to quickly tie up anything loose before the water fully filled the bay, and the troop doors slowly opened.

One by one, the Stellar Marines bounded out of the first APC, followed quickly by their Diplomacy brethren in the second APC, and piled into the deep water. There was no need for the helmets atmosphere to be oxygenated; the Kal'Bavakorians relished the cold water rushing through their gills, and they almost seemed unhappy to push out of the water and make their way towards the nearby tree-filled area where the alien craft was preparing to make landfall.

Sergeant Burn'Ok, having made his way out of the water, rushed onto the beach with his THAR Kinetic Rifle raised. With sweet, cool water dribbling off his armored form, he quickly made a 'circle' motion towards the gathered Marines that had settled into a ring-like formation on the beach; surrounding the five or so Mel'Va Diplomacy Corps individuals that had pushed out of the second APC. Within' seconds, the small group of Alliance soldiers had formed into a circular formation around the Diplomacy Corps troops and, as one singular entity, bounded off towards the alien craft's suspected landing zone. On the way, the Sergeant began speaking into the open communications channel for his team.

++-'Fireteam One, I want you directly behind the Diplomacy Corps members; remain calm and collected, and allow them to do the speaking. Follow them were they go.'-++

++-'Yes Brother-Sergeant.'-++

++-'Fireteams Two and Three, I want you on opposite sides of the landing sight; one to the left and one to the right for a cross-fire pattern. Keep a marksman from each fireteam in the rear in case we need to make a retreat.-++

++-'Copy, Brother-Sergeant.'-++

With somewhat bizarre movements, yet seemingly sufficing ones, the flying cube entered the planet's atmosphere; the blue colonial skies reflected in the form's perfectly symmetrical plates, the Twin engulfed within the alien vessel's presence -- shining over its surfaces. Without visible effort, the soundless 'ship' waved through plackets of air in eccentric movements reminding one of the Familiar's twitching mask; the ship's patterns as unpredictable as its presumed passengers. How the vehicle was even able to remain in-air, let alone control itself as accurately as it did, was an engineering mystery. But perhaps, through the contact the colonial population was about to make, they'd be able to find answers to the rapidly-appearing questions provided by the ship's swift arrival. Finally, it seemed to have found a clear direction, a zone of landing. And thus the wingless cube surfed down gracefully through the dispersing clouds, aiming itself for an empty beach of foreign beauties untold.

The beach was a beige expanse of a billion grains, drowning itself in sands of various natures; the small desert in contrast with the quivering waters lying against it almost romantically. It almost felt as if the two differing ecosystems had, over time, grown to love one another in such a way only mother nature could portray. A story told through sand and sea intertwined, contently glistering in an afternoon sun eons after eons. A love unimaginable. A love unrecognized within the blackened cube rapidly approaching.

Interestingly, the vessel performed a slight evasive (and technically impressive) maneuver once close to the anticipated LZ, presumably throwing the established welcoming party and its armed associates off-guard in that they were now no longer in surround of the ship. Instead of the nearby treeline, the ship majestically lowered itself towards the beachhead; particularly the non-deep water besides it. With strange, impractical yet technologically astounding movements, the ship finally landed -- its bottom covered in seawater for up to a few centimeters.

Now idle, its soundless flight- and landing completed, the pitch-black cube sat idle and unresponsive; its surfaces reflecting the calm-motioned waters and glistering sand in anticipation of things to come.

The Hallo'Wai System;
Planet of Nathari,
Alliance Colony 'Moon City' Outskirts

++-"Target is moving. Preparing to re-adjust."-++

Nathari was dead quiet this time of night. The only sound in the air was derived from the water-crickets, the distant bird, the occasional howl of the distant Predator.. As well as the sound of heavily-armored feet marching through the thick grass. The only light came from the sky; the grasslands and plains warmed by the luminous light of Nathari's two massive, magnified moons. Moon City's commercial power systems had been deactivated for the night; a reminder that the world was still under development, and far from any metropolis on the many dozens of other Alliance worlds. It was still growing, still developing, and thus was vehemently guarded by it's Stellar Marine detachments.. Many of whom had personal investments on this world in the form of land, or family.

Regardless of the intentions of the strange, otherwordly alien spacecraft; it would not threaten the tranquility of Nathari.

++-'Copy that, we are moving. Target has settled on the beach-head... Fireteams Two and Three, provide overwatch on the grasslands higher ground. Fireteam One, continue with the support of the Diplomacy Team.'-++

++-'We copy, Brother Sergeant. We are adjusting.'-++

The soldiers moved silently through the grass; quickly rushing back towards the beachhead with their diplomacy brethren in tow. In the darkness, only the threatening red eyes of the Marines helmets could be seen; moving from tree to tree before finally reaching the beach. Where the dirt and tall grass meets the sand, it becomes a slanted incline; angling downwards towards the clear, pristine water that had been contaminated by the arriving aliens spacecraft. The main force of the twenty Alliance Stellar Marines halt at the very top of the beach; dropping to their stomachs or taking cover behind large boulders or tree stumps. Their weapons, humming quietly with astounding energies, are propped up against the ground or against their respective cover in order to increase their accuracy, although the safeties remain on.

The second, smaller team, along with the Diplomacy Corps, slowly make their way down the sloped beach head towards the alien spacecraft. They are slow and cautious; the Stellar Marines keeping their kinetic rifles aimed at the alien spacecraft, while the five Ambassadors, two evident males and three females, march confidently onwards.

Sergeant Burn'Ok, kneeling at the top of the beach head, glares downwards at the alien spacecraft and his brothers and sisters as they approach it. He was hardly breathing; the air stuck in his throat as he watched silently. There was no telling what was inside the spacecraft, and his Marines didn't have the scanners to attempt to penetrate the crafts armor.. The Stellar Marines on Nathari were expected to receive reinforcements and advanced technology along with the second wave of colonists in another Galactic Standard Week, and had only basic equipment for the time being. The Sergeant was a smart, but cautious, man. He was a veteran of the Great War on Kal'Bavakor, and had seen the many pleasantries and horrors that could derive from a situation that relied only on instinct. The alien spaceship could hold peaceful creatures, or monstrosities that threatened Moon City, and the many families of his soldiers that remained there. One of his new cadets even had a few egg hatchlings coming soon.

So, in interest of all things that mattered, the Sergeant decided to play it cautiously. Raising a hand the Data-Tool that rested on his left bicep, he input a quick command that opened a communication line to the two APC's still hiding beneath the waves in the river; directly next to the alien spacecraft.

++-'Armored units. Alien craft has landed. I want you to power rail-cannons, but keep the safeties on... Just in case.'-++

A moment passed, before a bubbly reply came from the submerged vehicles.

++-'Copy Sergeant. Arming weapons. Give the word, and we'll pop up to open a lightshow.'-++

The Sergeant didn't give a message of confirmation. He deactivated the comm line, and then settled in to watch the history-making fiasco just a few meters away..

"..."
"...?"

The vessel paused in its position, idle in the waters it rested upon. Over a minute passed, but eventually there was movement. From the ship's backside, a figure emerged through a vague gap, hard to see from the submerged positions the APC's had filled. Calmly, and somewhat awkwardly -- as if unfamiliar with the movements it had to perform -- the being stepped alongside the cube, eventually appearing in front of the ship; moonlight clearing up its physical traits.

The Familiar's appearance is a dreadful one; yet astoundingly beautiful and eerily exotic. A large part of its body is covered in dark (albeit thin and transparent) robes, beneath which reside the being's metallic and mirror-esque mechanical suit, effectively reflecting the nightly beauty and far-stretching beachhead with its panels. The particular metal (and once again mirror-like) 'mask' of the figure is almost tribal in nature, carrying various ceremonial shapes with no apparent function but to impress aesthetically -- unless intended for a humongous task. The mask carries an odd aura to it -- something vague and arcane carried by its very form, a feeling of existential sorrow and despair painted over its silvery surface, yet nonetheless accompanied by an aforementioned beauty. The 'expression' carried by the mask is that of hollow emptiness and departed existence; an impossible mixture of emotions, and yet, a lack of them altogether.

Interestingly, a certain dynamic 'twitch' is visible on the mask-- its variously shaped components mobilizing independently for what seems to be half a second each, to form differing 'expressions' of little productive meaning nor timely presence, almost as if uncontrolled by the being behind it. Collectively it can only be described as an uncomfortable and near-morbid sight of the aforementioned departed expression of the mask compulsively distorting into disfigured 'emotions' every few seconds, each for no more than half a second each. A technological feat, for sure, especially given the lack of sound emitting from the movements; but it gave the figure a sense of unpredictability, forming an intriguing contrast with its obvious calmth. But it also made the Familiar feel like an otherworldly being, protruding from cosmic corners unknown; almost as if its very existence broke the laws of nature.

The only thing that doesn't actively alter are the mask's 'eyes': endless gaping pits of divinely white voids, beaming brightly as if emitting the purest of energies; the soldiers and diplomats observing them nearly losing themselves in their confusing yet oddly consuming apparatus. If anything, they feel lifeless-- but they are evidently not.

The being's eyes shine brightly over the endless grains of sand, idly standing in front of its ship; the figure's gaze directed to its front. Its mirror-esque shell effectively reflects the hills in which the Kals have taken refuge, as if an attempt to make them self-aware. And so it waits; what for, up to speculation. Regardless of its intentions, he seems to have been the sole passenger of the cube that he emerged from -- without guards or company.

The Hallo'Wai System;
Planet of Nathari,
Alliance Colony 'Moon City' Outskirts

++-'Sergeant, this is APC-1; target is leaving the sp-... Uhm, wow."-++

++-"What is it APC-1?"-++

++-"...I'm not quite sure how to describe it, sir. It's.. An odd looking alien."-++

The Sergeant and his escort on the hill soon understood what the APC operators were speaking so oddly about. Through the enhanced vision systems in their helmets, their eyes would settle upon the single alien entity in all of its other-worldliness, as well as its subtle similarities. Its tribal-like helmet systems, its bright eyes, even the light robe it wore over its heavy armor all reflected Kal'Bavakorian physiology or culture in some way. One could even compare this aliens glowing mask to the softly glowing sclera of Kal eyes, and the armor to the Kal'Bavakorian's own culturally important helmets and great robes. Yet, at the same time, the differences in the aliens garments and physiology were offputting to say the least. The twitching mask reminded many upon the upper beach head of old horror movies from the Pre-Hologram Age, and more than one Alliance Stellar Marine could not help but shudder as they gazed upon the creature. Nonetheless, the fifteen Alliance Stellar Marines laying upon the upper hillside did not panic or act rashly; they kept their rifles aimed upon the creature and uttered not a single word.

On the lower beach, nearest to the Familiar spacecraft, were five more Alliance Stellar Marines and their five fellow Alliance Ambassadors from the Mel'Va Diplomacy Corps. Utilizing much more basic and uni-sex envirosuits because more advanced suits and equipment had not been shipped to Nathari yet, this group did not seem at all disturbed by this alien. While the five Marines keep their rifles pressed roughly against their shoulders and remain vigilant, with the red eyes of their helmets staring silently at the alien, their fellow ambassadors appear to be much more relaxed. As soon as the creature steps before the gathered Alliance force, the ambassadors begin to step forward, getting within' a few feet of the much taller alien creature; the Familiar being well over a foot taller than most of the gathered Kal'Bavakorians.

One of the ambassadors steps forward, leading the group. Based on the more rounded chest and slimmer form, this Kal'Bavakorian is clearly female. After a moment of silence, the female Kal'Bavakorian speaks; attempting communication in English with the tall, odd creature as it gazes upon it with her own glimmering eyes. While there is a clear accent, the English spoken by the Ambassador is clearly understandable if the Familiar can speak English.

"Hello. I am Ambassador Nassi Va'Tul of Nathari, and welcome to our planet. Might we ask... Who are you, and why do you come to our world?"

The creature, not visibly off-put by the rifles aimed in his direction, remained verbally silent and physically idle as the Kal party approached it; not particularly eyeing any of the individuals it consisted of, instead staring into the same meaningless direction it had before. As the ambassador concluded her initial attempt at verbal communication, however, this changed. Very, very slowly, the twitchy mask lowered its gaze; allowing the bright voids to shine upon her person. And eventually, after presumably having examined her and her figure, the entity extended its metallic gauntlet from beneath its tattered black robes; holding what would appear to be some form of data-carrying device. The core of its contents seemed heavily encrypted, however, with a singular open message displaying a simple message.

"FOR HER."

The Hallo'Wai System;
Planet of Nathari,
Alliance Colony 'Moon City' Outskirts

Ambassador Nassi Va'Tul was in sort of a neutral state at this point. Awaken from her sleep after a long day of diplomatic operations, signing zoning laws for prospective colonists, and assisting in the planning for the eventual Nathari Alliance Trading Depot outside of Moon City, a sudden disturbance from her sleep did not make her a happy woman. She was exhausted from all the work of the last week, and the disputes she'd been having with the Interstellar Conglomerate's corporate aids gave had given her an all-night migraine.

She was also bewildered, because there was a huge, mechanical alien standing before her; extending some sort of communication device to her.

Settling her luminous eyes upon the device for a moment or so, she finally extends her small-in-comparison hand and places her hand upon the device. Behind her, her fellow diplomats were hard at work, although it would not seem so. They were either tapping controls upon the Data-Tools that orbited their biceps; inputting information and recording dialogue, or were taking subtle pictures of the alien and its spacecraft. They did not scan the creature or its craft, though, in fear of upsetting whatever it may be. Of course, one of the Marines would push his way to the front of the group upon spotting the device.

The Ambassador would slowly grasp the device and remove it from the hold of the Familiar, before extending it to the Marine who stood beside her. Shouldering his rifle, the Marine would remove a metallic spherical device from his belt, and aim it towards the device. A bright, thick beam of violet energy would escape it after the device retracted its outer casing to revealing a scanning system within'. The energy beam would wash over the Familiar's device, scanning for any dangerous side effects that tampering with the device would unleash.

Satisfied, the Marine would once more pocket the device and retreat to the rear of the group; saying not a word.

The Ambassador would then place the device into one of the large duffle bags hanging at her side, although with slight hesitation. Her eyes narrowed somewhat after hearing the cryptic words on the device...

"FOR HER," It had said. Of course, she was no fool; it had to mean the Imperial Empress. But how did the aliens know? There was no way they could have intercepted important communications from the Alliance, as they always encrypted their communications and used short burst radio systems in order to mask their colonies. Even the Data-Net in the outer colonies used direct laser transmitters to transfer the shows from Kal'Bavakor to Nathari. It was best to play 'dumb' with the alien, to some regard, in order to find out how he.. She... It.. Knew who 'Her' was.

After fastening her duffle bag shut, she would casually glance over her shoulder at her aids; focusing on the one who was taking photos of the alien craft through his data-tool. With a loud honking noise, she managed to gather his attention, before speaking quickly in Kal. While to the Familiar it sounded like a series of loud honks, croaks, and hooting noises, it made perfect sense to her now-attentive aid.

"Basv Va'Un; alert the Colonial Administration to do a security check on all incoming and outgoing communications, Data-Net signals; all down to the finest detail."

"Yes M'Lady," Was his reply as he raised his Data-Tool, and prepared to send a direct message back to Moon City.

While he stepped away from the main bulk of the group to perform his task, the Ambassador would turn back to the Familiar; gazing upwards at it in a curious manner. Although it seemed stoic in nature, perhaps being more relaxed would allow it to do the same. The creature had to be here for more than a courier job. With such a thought in mind, she speaks again in English to the silent being.

"..We thank you for the device, distant one. I wish to speak further with you, and I hope you desire to as well, as you must have traveled a great distance to come here. But I also have a simple question regarding the device.."

She would pause a moment before, motioning to her duffle bag with her hand, she asks gently.

"Who is this woman the device speaks of?"

PostSubject: Re: H-5; The Hallo'Wai System   H-5; The Hallo'Wai System I_icon_minitimeWed Jun 18, 2014 7:12 pm

The voice, ironically, felt unfamiliar; not just its chords, but its origin. As if the voice, while obviously coming from the Familiar, did not originate from its bowels; the air forming its noises not from its own lungs. As if something within its body was disturbed or unconventional, its mask's components continuing its twitching pattern while the voice uttered its words and the rest of its body remained idle, contributing to the impression that it felt unaffected by its own words. Nonetheless, the voice spoke with reverberating elegance, gently and omnipresently echoing through the night-fallen area; its echo to such a degree that it felt unnatural, as if strangely produced. Soft and quiet in vocalic demeanor, it felt light and respectable-- clean and alive, more 'normal' than its body could ever be. But it also felt gender-less, emotionally derelict, and oddly hypnotizing. Something was off, something was wrong; but it was hard to assess what it was exactly that stroke the wrong chord, where the other vocal traits stroke just right.

Their traits aside, the spoken words' contents seemed uncaring for the Ambassador's question; although arguably not out of contempt but rather out of the uselessness of the question. Regardless of what gender had currently taken its imperial post on the Kal throne (or any other governing office the Kal may had used, for that matter), such an enigmatic message of a previously undiscovered alien race would surely be delivered to the highest governing authority anyway; man or woman, emperor or president.

Regardless; its words were simple.

"I lost something here. I would like to find it. Once I have done this, I will have time for talks."

So it was assumed to be the Imperial Empress.. The alien clearly had no intent to further explain the purpose of the device or speak of who the message was for, the Ambassador thought with a small frown beneath her mask. Ambassador Nassi Va'Tul would pause from her frustrated thoughts, though, as she listened to the Familiar speak of something lost, and its intention to find it. Instead of immediately replying to the Familiar, she takes a moment to slowly grasp her dufflebag and remove it from her person; extending it out to one of her fellow diplomatic aids with a quick series of hoots and honks. The aid grabs the dufflebag, the Familiars communication device still inside, and begins to retreat towards the upper beach-head. She uses this moment of pause to think of a reply, and merely comes to the conclusion that she should first find out what the creature had 'lost'.

As the aid leaves, the Ambassador turns her head back towards the Familiar and speaks; her accented voice quizzical in tone. She was as curious as she was worried.. Likely a mutual feeling shared by her Marine brothers and sisters.

"What is it that you seek, distant one..? Depending on what it may be, we could provide help."

"Can you give any information to us in order to assist? While it may be important to you, I simply cannot have you striding about on our world. Many reasons contribute to this," Is the Ambassadors calm, yet somewhat strained reply. The alien was machinelike.. Was it a construct of some sort? It didn't seem willing, or even able, to relay information to her or her subordinates about his purpose here.

The more she wondered about the creature before her, the more it made her, and her escort of Marines, nervous. If the alien was any less... Alien, she would probably have ordered the Stellar Marines to detain the being, abit peacefully, for further negotiations. An aching feeling told her that may be a bad idea, as there seemed to be more to the being than it was willing to show..

In an unanticipated move, the entity now remained silent, completely shutting off the previously active conversation; almost as if drawing back the little transparency it had entrusted the Kal'Bavakorian welcome party with. Now it went back to its previous routine, simply standing idle as it stared down obscurely onto the woman; its silent toxin of idle intimidation and patience washing over the sand-covered beach. It had delivered its gift, a device containing treasures unknown. It had said what it wanted to say, requested what it had wanted to request. And now it seemed as if it was waiting silently, eerily, for the small ambassador to allow its quest to be continued.

This was going nowhere for the time being. She would have to wait for the message from the alien's device to reach the Empress, and hear the report. With a silent sigh, Ambassador Nassi Va'Tul would raise a hand to the Data-Tool on her left bicep, and begin to input a few commands upon the spherical, holographic device. Activating the communications device on the illuminating object, she would begin speaking into her helmets communication channel in Kal; gazing up at the Familiar at the same time with her neutral gaze.

++-"Send the report back from the message as soon as Her Highness receives it."-++

Her aid, whom she had been speaking to via encrypted radio communications, replies only a moment later.

++-"Of course, ma'am. I am opening a communications channel with the Homeworld as we speak using the Marine's long range devices. I shall have a report in twenty minutes."-++

Twenty minutes of silence with the alien. While awkward and unfortunate, it was necessary. As soon as she deactivated the communications channel, she would turn back to the Familiar. Switching back to English, she would speak lightly to the creature; attempting, and managing quite well under present circumstances, to remain calm.

"My aids will speak to Her now. We will be able to assist you on your.. Quest, as soon as we receive a report on it."

Behind her, the Stellar Marines continue to keep their weapons trained upon the Familiar... It wasn't going anywhere until the Kals were sure of their situation.

Quite a bit of time later, the aide known as Vira Na'Run would rush down the hillside where the Stellar Marines were positioned; visibly confusing and frustrating the Alliance Marines. Even more confused, and irritated, was the Ambassador. She had been standing there with the silent, stationary alien creature for some time now; enough to make her visibly uncomfortable. She had even attempted communication with it a few times, although to no avail.

Vira Na'Run would rush to the Ambassadors side, panting softly as he finally stopped to rest. The Ambassador, her eyes brightening beneath her helmet in an almost livid manner, would hiss at the panting being before her; the Familiar to her back now.

"Where have you been!?!?! We've been w-.."

"Ma'am; the Empress... Wishes.. To speak with the alien."

This brought the Ambassador, as well as the Stellar Marines behind her, pause. The Empress wished to speak with the alien? What could the message have been about? There was not time to think about that, though; to keep the Empress waiting was to destroy your career in seconds. At the same time, most of the Alliance forces had only seen the Empress in the vids; never so 'close'. They were too curious and honored by such an event to keep the Empress waiting, regardless.

The Ambassador, her frustrated and exasperated body language replaced by one of excitement, would motion towards the ground before the Familiar; the hand signal meant for her aide. The Ambassador speaks to her aide in a suddenly respectful, calm tone..

"Deploy the holo-message system, Vira.."

With a gracious nod, Vira Na'Runwould retrieve the holo projector he had used earlier from his pack. He would set the large, spherical machine upon the ground before pressing a few holo-switches that appear upon its placement. Within' a few moments of it being placed, the spherical machine begins to rotate slowly; the upper sections of it spreading open to reveal a projection device within'. A minute or so passes as the projection device makes a connection to the Data-Net Orbital in orbit above Nathari, and initiates a lightspeed connection to the Homeworld; a connection that cannot be traced nor intercepted.

Suddenly, the projector activates; spewing a dazzling display of violet energy into the air around the device. A figure appears suddenly in the light-filled air, suddenly staring intently at the creature before it. The projection stands just as tall as the Familiar; allowing those who use it the same 'playing field' with taller species. Around the projection, the Alliance diplomats bow their heads respectfully to the projection. The Alliance Marines, while remaining concious of the Empress, do not; keeping their rifles pointed in the aliens direction. Security over formality was a virtue.

After a moment of bowing unto the projection of the Empress, the Ambassador gazes upwards at the projection, and speaks in a respectful tone,
"My Empress.. How may we be of assistance today?"

The projection continues to gaze intently upon the Familiar while remaining silent for a moment or so. Without gazing down at the Ambassador or her personnel, the projection of the Empress speaks. Her voice is powerful, yet elegant. Authorative, yet compassionate. A voice that represented the woman that ruled the Alliance with a warm iron hand.

"Leave us please, both you and the Marines. I shall speak to this one alone.."

There is a pause from the Ambassador before, with a light nod, she motions for the Marines and her diplomats to follow this order. They rise and, with a gentle bow of their heads to the Empress, quickly retreat up the hillside towards the rest of Marine detachment. They are out of sight, out of earshot, and out of mind for the time being..

Leaving just the projection and the Familiar in the field.

The projection of the Imperial Empress of the Alliance gazes intently at the Familiar for a moment or so. After this silent contest of gaze she, with a light nod, crosses her arms across her chest and speaks. Her voice is somewhat synthetic sounding due to the speakers of the projection device.

"...I must say, you have done my people a great service in giving us the location of the Council Station. I come to thank you personally.. As well as to ask you a few questions."

Master of silence, the entity remained equally quiet as the Empress observed it, the hologram's projection reflected in its mirrors. Shortly after the Empress spoke, it replied in the same fashion it had spoke before.

"You may ask. But first, I ask of you to keep the origins of this service known to your self only. The same I request for my presence here. This trust, and this gift, I place in you; as a sign of goodwill."

The Hallo'Wai System.
Orbit over Nathari.
D.K.M Munich, Type 17 Dreadnought.

Any sensors in the system would pick up the bright flash of energy as three ships jumped into the system, obviously human in nature, two of the ships obviously designed to take a beating, they were huge, covered in guns and looked like they could easily put up a fight, in reality however, they were slow moving and absolutely detrimental to the quick paced maneuver warfare of the Coalition. Behind the two Type 17's was a odd design of ship nonetheless, designed like a carrier, but armed with anti-planetary batteries and point defense. Within a moment a klaxon would sound through the D.K.M Munich, next they'd sound off on Munich's counterpart; Essen and lastly the mixed breed craft, Gothenburg. Now that the Coalition had started its expanse outwards, patrols were given new routes, starting with this ones redeployment which lead it to H5 and in turn the Hallo'Wai system. Aboard Munich the bridge would be alive as readings came online and immediately got passed to the Captain. Captain von Döbeln, a 12 year career officer in the Coalitions navy. He'd spent three years in the Coalitions admiralty school, followed by two years under Captain Kamprad, after his retirement von Döbeln took command of the D.K.M Munich and it's flotilla, following the patrol of his mentor. Finally they'd been able to break free of the monotony and expand into the restricted space they'd enforced for so many years. Of course, he had the good fortune to jump into a populated system.

"Captain, we're getting reads on tracking systems planet side, theres no way they don't know we're here.".

The Captain simply nodded to the tracking officer, he turned to his weapons XO

"Put the ship in high defensive, I want all point-defense we can active and Merkis' on standby for any necessary reactive strikes. Transmit the same to Essen, tell the Gothenburg to take up defensive action code 10B-A-X.".

The officer would get to work immediately, any sensors reading the group would see the point defense light up like a Christmas tree as three pairs of two fighters deployed to patrol close to the dreadnoughts, just to give the two giants the extra edge in protection. As the Captain watched the fighters do their fly by of the bridge he'd turn to his communications officer, who was just about to send the pre-recorded hail request.

"It's alright Heinrich, I'll send my own.".

The officer would simply give a curt nod, he'd tap his keyboard and a new option would set on the Captains station. He'd tap the button down and the bridge would go silent.

"To all who receive this message, please do not take our actions in any other matter than to protect ourselves. We mean no harm to no one who means no harm to us, we are representatives of Coalition of Cleansed Territories and want nothing more than peaceful contact. This message will repeat.".

With that he'd stop transmitting and true to his word, it would repeat. The message would transmit in English, Swedish, German and all other human languages. It would also broadcast in the language of the Alarei, from what resources the AGSL had before the nuclear war.
________________________________________
D.K.M. Gothenburg
Type 89 Littoral Combat Craft.
Orbital Deployment Deck 04.

The deck was busier than it had been in 8 years, APC's and tanks maneuvered into waiting drop ships, the actual infantry had downtime till they were expected to load. It was CCT doctrine to prepare landing forces in the event communications with a planet went hot, it wasn't just Gothenburg either, just like every C.C.T. ship, Munich and Essen carried their own contingent of infantry and other in-atmosphere assets. Knowing they wouldn't see any action in the first wave, should it of gone down, a group of heavy asset troopers would crowd around the ration crates, working through their days worth, most set up in half the lower half of their power suit's, which in their case was a heavy exoskeleton designed to carry the larger weapons they were carrying, mostly along the line of multi-barreled rocket launchers, shortened coil-guns or if the Coalition truly felt like doing damage, the so-called 'napalm thrower', which was pretty self explanatory. But, seeing as they were second wave, it was obvious it was nothing compared to whatever the C.C.T. had in store for it's first wave.

"So, Carl, how's it feel it might be the day you pop your combat cherry!"

Jani, leader of the squad they all belonged too, a veteran in the siege of Saskir, the only member of the squad who had seen combat with anything that wasn't Cisri or leftist rebels. Carl, was greener than the rest however, having no combat experience past the VR's each soldier was expected to fill weekly. Carl was working on perfecting the hydraulic system on his suit's right leg, he wouldn't even look up to respond to Jani.

"Oberleiter said the odds of us even touching down as little, it's just a colony Jani.".

Jani would laugh and cuff the back of his head. He'd make the brisk walk to the assigned sector for their squad, hoisting on the power pack for his exoskeleton on his back.

"Carl, you talk like that you won't be able to get down there and pillage some fucking alien settlement, we didn't give you that dragons tongue for you not to use it.".

He shot a grin across at the greenhorn, Jani would go over the magazines for his coilgun, essentially five slugs of pure metal. He then checked his vest, slotting in more and more to be prepared for any battle on the ground if need be.

"Come on, don't you wanna inflict the same righteous revenge on the same breed of life that denied us our home?"

Carl shook his head, unlike what seemed like everyone else in the world he lived in, he didn't blame aliens in general for the nuclear armageddon of Earth; just the Alarei. It would take Jani a moment before he'd walk back towards Carl.

"Or maybe you'd rather fuck them up in the other sense.".

The rest of the group would laugh at Jani's comment, going to restock and re-arm at the armory. The hangar would start to fill up with the sounds of heavy duty engines as the armoured contingents rolled out, some troops cheering as Type 110's ascend the ramps into the dropships. The klaxon would sound for a moment before a announcement from the Oberleiter.

"All units queued for post invasion reinforcement, prepare weapons and weapons systems. Combat engineers are to report to area 04-B for briefing on updated ROE, over.".

With that, the hangar would start to calm down, second wave had all the time in the world to prepare. If they got out at all.

The Hallo'Wai System;
Planet of Nathari,
Moon City Orbital Defense Command Center

The Orbital Defense CIC stationed in Moon City, settled deep within' the Alliance Military Command Barracks, was going insane. The spherical room, practically shining with the many active hologram terminals creating a dazzling light show in the humid atmosphere, was filled with Alliance Military Command personnel either shouting orders or complying to those given. Star charts were being checked, direct links to the planetary defense grid were being set, and a whole host of people were simply close to panic. This was a colony; not even prepared for a full scale invasion. They could only thank the Goddess that Alliance Command had ordered the installment of multiple, massive ground to space energy emplacements in the weeks before for preparation of massive construction projects on Nathari. Funny how all the aliens were showing up before the planet was ready for them..

Alliance Stellar Marine Lord Commander Takur Sun'Ve had rushed into the command center as soon as the alarms had rung. He had barely sealed his enviro-suit's helmet upon entering the room; not even having enough time to totally finish dressing before making it inside. He had been waken quite hastily from rest, and was still shaking the sleepiness from his eyes.. Hardly time to dress, no time to prepare; not even time for a simple cup of Oasis Energizer. Shame, indeed.

Immediately taking command, he would step towards the center of the room where the main holo-display was; showing three rather massive purple dots hanging above a three-dimensional display of Nathari's upper Nak'za quadrant. The display, as well as the shouts of his subordinates, gave word that the craft had activated their siege-capable weapons. With a loud snarl, the Lord Commander would bellow.

"Everyone must calm down immediately! We will handle the situation as it unfoils... Now, someone give me a damned status update on our defenses, and details on the craft in orbit!"

A young technical officer, operating the console just around the corner of the main display, would chirp in response; his helmet giving his voice a rather synthetic tone to it. No one was any less afraid, but a clear headed Kal giving orders gave everyone something to focus on.

"Sir, craft in orbit are dreadnaught and carrier class; unknown government, although their classification puts them as human warships. Craft have weapons enabled, siege and anti-ship class, and are launching starcraft, although they appear to be flying patrols around their motherships. A quantum-link communication has already been sent to the home system; a reserve fleet should arrive in the next two hours. As well, the Frigate 'Harmony' is on the other side of the planet, and is attempting a quick orbit to perform a flyby of the formation."

The Lord Commander nodded.

"Very well. Until "Harmony" and the reserve fleet make it here, we're on our own. Alert planetary defense batteries to charge up and target the enemy dreadnaughts.. A few focused beams on those ships should take them right out of our airspace, but give the order to hold fire for now. Prepare local Marine and Legion detachments to arm up and move around.. I'd say... A distance platoon outside the cities boundaries. Tell them to set up around the inner river bank; we don't want to wake the city up quite yet."

These poor colonists, the Lord Commander thought for a moment. As he gazed around this room, he could feel the fear, the worry, the borderline panic rising from these poor souls. It was clear almost none of these soldiers had combat experience like he did.. Those who did have any from the Great War were probably deployed in the Starfleet, or were going here in the next colonial wave. These men and women were green as Nathari grass; they'd never experienced the terror of an orbital bombardment, or invasion, which was a possibility at this point.

If these soldiers and military personnel were this afraid, he could only imagine the panic-induced hysteria that may overtake the colony if they alerted the local population to a possible invasion. There were already horror stories arising about human aggression, so alerting the population would have to wait until full mobilization was necessary. He'd have a team ready by then to alert Nathari colonists smoothly...

His thoughts were suddenly interrupted by a cry from his Communications Officer; a young male who was suddenly glued to hhis station's holo-screen.

"Lord Commander, human spacecraft have opened up communications!"

"Send it through my console immediately, I shall respond to it personally," The Lord Commander replies briskly.

"Aye, Lord Commander," He replies, before tapping a few switches upon his console. The message is directed through the Lord Commanders console, which he begins to listen to intently.

Beneath his mask, the Lord Commander's brow furrows tightly. With a loud, strained exhale, he snaps his gaze away from his console; the message having ended, and having been listened to. Without a moment to spare, the Lord Commander barks.

"Someone get me Ambassador Hash La'Nuk on the comms... And get me a cup of energizer! We're all going to be here for quite some time."

In orbit, the D.K.M Munich, and her sister ships, would immediately receive multiple lock on signatures from the planet Nathari. Their origin: three massive energy signatures that appear to be planetary defense emplacements sitting on the planets equator. If their power was to be cross checked, it seems that a discharge from whatever weapon emplacement they are classified as would be devastating to the human space craft. Either they will shoot large projectiles at relativistic speeds, or fire something else that requires enormous energy output to do so. The uncertainty of the situation was bearing down on all..

At the same time, a message is sent from one of the nearby continents on the planet below. The communication is relayed in English, and is clearly a male, although the voice is filled with an alien accent of unknown race; a new species entirely. While the voice sounds synthetic to some degree, it is clearly organic; meaning the speaker knows the English language quite well..

Unfortunately, the voice does not at all sound happy for the first bit of conversation.

++-"Attention unidentified spacefleet of the Coalition of Cleansed Territories, you have entered Alliance airspace with fully armed spacecraft, and are noted as having weapon systems on full power and launching spacecraft. You are ordered to recall all fighters, and power down all weapon systems. The Alliance also wishes for peaceful contact, but not so when weapons are pointed at one another.."-++

A brief pause in communication; possibly lag of some sort.

++-"After you have deactivated weapon systems and re-called all fighters, the Alliance colony of Nathari will be most interested in hearing what you have to say. An Ambassador Hash La'Nuk will converse with you. You have forty Galactic Standard seconds to initiate degradation of combat protocols."-++

The Hallo'Wai System;
Planet of Nathari,
Alliance Colony 'Moon City' Outskirts

The holographic image of the Empress bows her helmeted head softly; a sign of respect, and a sign of confirmation. She then rises and, gliding her hands behind her back so that she might move into an 'at-ease' position, she replies softly; her voice a gracious, somewhat synthetic melody.

"Of course. The goodwill of my people is at your disposal in such a matter.. The Alliance shall share not a single whisper of our talks together..."

She then pauses a moment and, with eyes staring most curiously at the creature standing before her, she asks.

"..What are your people called, friend?"

She is seemingly not aware of the conflict taking place across the river in Moon City, as well as a few thousand miles above..

The sensors would show power flowing away from the weapons systems, distributed elsewhere through the ship. the fighters would also make their way back to the carrier and slowly distribute in, not within the time space given by the alliance of course but they would obviously be in holding patterns. The comms line would open again, the captains voice crackling to life on the Kal surface.

"We have complied, please provide us a location to send our diplomatic team.".

It's hard to see whether the creature takes pleasure in the given answer. Nevertheless, it obliges the question posed.

"We bear no name, at least not anymore. Over time we have been labeled with many names in many tongues by many people. But this was never our own doing."

The Hallo'Wai System;
Planet of Nathari,
Moon City Orbital Defense Command Center

There was a great length of pause in the Moon City Orbital Defense Command Center. The next minute or so would determine what situation Nathari was in. As quickly as said situation began, a message was rerouted to the Communications Officer; all eyes settling upon him as he begins checking the message. The Communications Officer spoke perfect English due to his job, and it took him only a second or so to relay the information; a sharp tooth'd smile of relief showing on his face. He immediately reported the response.

"Lord Commander; humanfleet has shown disabling of weapon systems. They are requesting a location for landing and diplomatic talks. Should I forward the message to your station?"

A loud sigh of relief escaped the mouths of most all personnel in the room. As they settled back into their positions with more vigor than before the situation arose, Lord Commander Takur Sun'Ve would merely nod in reply to the Communications Officer. As the message was directed to his station, and he give it a quick look-over, a quick reply would be directed back to the Communications Officer.

"Very good. Is the Ambassador's channel open yet?"

The Communications Officer, only a few seats away, turns to the Lord Commander. He taps his helmet a few times; a sign he was receiving a communication from her via his enviro-suits helmet, and nods once as he honks,"Yes. She's asking... What the occasion is." His mandibles click together in thought, as if he was not expecting the had-been sleeping Ambassador to respond so unprofessionally.

The Lord Commander smiled a sharp-tooth'd smile,"Tell her she has... Foreign guests, and she doesn't have a great deal of time to prepare."

There is a pause from the Communications Officer as he relays this message; speaking quickly in the Kal language. After thirty or so seconds, he turns back to the Lord Commander and taps his helmet twice upon the brim.

"She says she knows the perfect place... She requires a small guard; possibly a mech and a few Sentinels, and has relayed the location to our database. She has everything else under control."

The Lord Commander nodded, and raised his voice as he turned around to view the room in its entire.

"Alright brothers and sisters; you heard the Ambassador. Check the coordinates, and get those men and women down there!"

The D.K.M Munich would receive a message a few minutes later, the same individual male speaking in distorted, accented English.

++-"Attention Coalition of Cleansed Territories spacecraft, you have been scanned and are cleared for a single, unarmed dropship to enter the Nathari atmosphere. The coordinates are confined in this messages' data-packet, along with strict flight patterns you must follow. Two Alliance interceptors will escort your drop ship to the landing zone. Upon completion of strict flight along the pre-determined path, you will meet Ambassador Hash Na'Luk and her envoy. Have a safe flight."-++

The transmission cuts off.

Should the Coalition correctly follow the flight pattern assigned to them by Alliance Space-Traffic Control and the Orbital Defense Command, they will begin entering the Nathari atmosphere rather slowly, and the journey will take a good fifteen minutes of human time. The location assigned to the Coalition landing party is currently on the dark side of the planet; night time for the residents of this rather peaceful looking world. Even from high in the atmosphere, the huge, green forests and the great plains of Nathari are visible; glistening in the light of the massive planetoid known as the 'Twin of Nathari' by locals.

The two escort fighters promised by the Alliance show up just as the Coalition craft begins to enter the atmosphere of Nathari. These alien interceptors seem to have deployed from the moon-like planetoid orbiting the actual colony; denoting that there may be a military base of some sort upon its surface. Regardless, these interceptors follow the Coalition dropship down through the majority of its flight; making sure they follow the rigid flight path required by the Alliance.

As the Coalition dropship begins to near the surface, they come to see something spectacular..

A massive alien city sitting along the side of a long river. Although they are still much too high to see the details of it, the city is a wonder to the human eye. The skyscrapers that hang high above the ground are organic in structure; round and bubbly constructs that all seem to be unique in their own way, with no two structures totally alike. Many are interconnected through a series of bridges and ramps, and many elevators connect to the ground level of the city as well. The lower levels of the city cannot be seen all that well, but it seems dead quiet; everyone has gone to sleep for the night, and the power is deactivated for now. Not even a plasma torch lights the roads..

There also appear to be multiple roads diverting from a large gate that surround the city; all of which move along or across the river through multiple bridges, connecting a variety of small farming towns and what appear to be spherical forts, or could even be greenhouses of some kind; who knew? There is not enough time to get a better look, as the dropships' rigid flight path takes it behind the mountain the city rests upon, and along a short valley to a series of small, isolayed buildings that reflect the organic nature of the city. The dropship is coerced into a clearing, where cut grass makes way for a small landing field. There are a variety of nicely cut bushes that are not dissimilar to those upon Earth; making the planet seem a little less alien.

A large, spherical table rests a few hundred feet away from the site the humans are required to land; dotted with what appears to be food.

Even more interesting than the table are the fifteen short, masked, and mostly armed aliens standing by it. Those that are not armed are waiting for the craft to land, so that they might meet the inhabitants. Once the humans leave their craft, they will be able to see what awaits them more clearly...

The Empress seems intrigued by the creatures response, and replies as such.

"Well, my people are known as 'Kaash'kiauaaa'.. In our language, at least."

The pronunciation of the name is spoken mostly in a series of high pitched honks, chirps, and a few clicking sounds; garbled by the synthetic nature of the audio system. Nonetheless, the Empress continues on, and switches back to English for further talks. It was a strong skill, to switch between two utterly different languages, yet speak them both so well. At least, one would assume she spoke Kal well!

"But, to others, we are.. Or will be known, as the Kal'Bavakorian people. To what name do others know you? This may be a better question; one more easily answered."

High above them, a series of three quickly moving dots pass over them on their way towards Moon City. These vehicles have no way of noticing the isolated encounter between the Empress and her Familiar companion. It is only the two out in the field by the flowing freshwater river. Even the birds were chirping nearby; a gentle 'squawking' sound that was rather calming, especially so late in the Nathari evening..

The entity appears unfazed by the given information surrounding the Kal species and the three rapidly-moving objects in the high sky. It answers the given retort.

"Some call us this, some call us that. I believe members of the Council have grown to label us as 'familiar'."

The Empress lets out a soft, hooting chuckle, although it is clearly respectful in nature. The hologram of the Empress flickers a tiny bit in the night air as she begins to reply; a small transmission issue deriving from interference for the extremely long distance communication.

"That is a rather ironic name, don't you think? You are possibly the most 'un-familiar' individual I have ever laid eyes upon.."

She pauses a moment, before continuing.

"Tell me a bit about yourself, will you not? I am most curious to know about you, and your species. We have only been graced by humans thus far, and not all of such meetings have been those of pleasure..."
